Forestry is a sector that sees a high turnover. Players come and players go, but only the outstanding stand the test of time. What began in ’87 as Bailey’s Furniture Manufacturing is the foundation on which Evergreen Holdings is built today.
Evergreen Holdings’ journey began in 1987 when Martin ‘Feasibility’ Flavell acquired Bailey’s Furniture Manufacturing, a modest pine furniture operation in Pietermaritzburg. Martin’s eye for opportunity saw him win the President’s Prize for Business and grow Bailey’s into a major exporter of pine products.
Forestry and sawmilling operations were added as part of supply chain management businesses, which over the years became the company’s core focus.
Evergreen Forestry is a vertically integrated, sustainably focused forestry company managing seven plantations across the KZN Midlands. Evergreen Forestry grows its own trees for pulp and sawmilling, with an increasing focus on the sawmilling value chain.
